10 Steps to a Successful Podcast (Read Time: 3 min.)

YetiPodcasting… Old idea, new technology.

Podcasting has been around for years but it has had its’ ups and downs in terms of popularity, reach and utilization.

2015 marks a turning of the tide for podcasts.

Starting with all cars produced in 2015, all vehicles will now have dashboards that have easy, built-in access to podcast directories like iTunes and Stitcher.  That’s right… No more fumbling with your smart phone as you start your car to find the MP3, the podcast directory, or the blog so you can find that little play button, hit play and hope that the podcast streams as you drive… Or the annoying pulling-over-to-the-side-of-the-road when you’re listening to a great podcast and, all of a sudden, it stops… which you can’t even do if you commute 2 or 3 hours into or out of a major city like New York, Los Angeles or Atlanta.  Pulling over and standstill traffic don’t go together.

So podcasting is here to stay… and it’s growing… and it can skyrocket your reach, your service and get your mission out into the world.

But should EVERY entrepreneur have a podcast?  Not necessarily.

There’s a lot that goes into the production of a high quality podcast with great sound.  Imagine trying to be the solo producer, star, director, and audio engineer for what used to be The Oprah Winfrey Show.  Could you really do that alone?  Of course not!  So, when you want to create a HIGH quality podcast and you want to give your listeners the BEST experience, it’s important to count the cost and assess if you have the time, energy, and stamina to really do this until your podcast creates revenue that then opens up your ability to outsource a lot of it.

In today’s Monday Method episode of She Runs The Show, I talk about 10 Steps to a Successful Podcast.

In today’s episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why podcasts are THE tool to share your message with your tribe
  • 4 things you need to consider BEFORE making the decision to start your own podcast
  • 3 reasons most podcasts fail to build a following
  • The 10 steps to a successful podcast

Want to Be Featured in The Huffington Post? Read this… (Read Time: 2 min.)

Huff PostHave you ever wondered how entrepreneurs get featured in the Huffington Post?

Or write articles from Entrepreneur, Success, Forbes or Fortune Magazine?

That was my question too!  For years, I’ve wanted to write for HuffPost and, no matter who I asked, I couldn’t get an answer on how all of that works.  While The Huffington Post has its own submission page, what I’ve come to discover about the whole process is this:

1) There are way too many submissions that the editors NEVER get to

2) Submitting through their ‘submit’ page is NOT the way to go

So how do you get featured (and, thus, share your knowledge, expertise, and brilliance with the world)?

Two words: guest blogging.

I’m going to warn you.  This process takes time (we’re talking AT LEAST 6 months here) and it’s not for the people who are looking for immediate results.  This is for those who are willing to be persistent, consistent and give 100% (i.e. their best work) to smaller sites first and, as 6-12 months of this consistency goes on, become diligent about reaching out directly to key editors at the larger magazines and sites.

So… are you ready for a play-by-play breakdown of how to get the ball rolling?  Good, listen to this week’s Monday Method on the She Runs The Show podcast and learn how to create a guest blog posting system.

By the end of today’s episode, you’re going to learn:

  • What guest blog posting is and why it’s critical to building your brand
  • The 3 main goals behind guest blogging
  • How to find guest blogging opportunities
  • The 8 simple steps to creating a guest blog post system
